Now don't go and take it on me! But seriously, I am looking at this for a project car. I have no idea how the parts situation will be, but the price is very good. For a little background, I am 18 and I am looking for a hobby to get me out of the house. I have a truck to get me around, and I have worked on it quite a bit. I have researched these things for a while, but I would rather ask you guys first before I pull the plug. Thanks for any help. The ad is not really descriptive, and I do not know the tranny type. Thanks.

Shouldn't be any problem getting parts. Restoring a car can get pretty expensive but it doesn't have to. Make sure you have a couple thousand bucks left after buying for parts to get it running and driving, then restore it as you're enjoying it.

Hard to say on the tranny, but it is definitely worth a look. In its pictures it looks reasonably complete, but you'd have to look inside to tell. I worked on one of these at a shop in HS and I don't remember parts being that hard to come by.

I'd go check it out if I were you. Make sure everything is there, check the inner fenders, quarter panels, floor/trunk boards and the like. Figure out what is missing or needs repair, make sure they're easily available (there should be some companies that sell reproduction panels that you can weld in place of the old ones). Looks like it would be a fun project if most everything is straight/solid/there.

The possible transmissions: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_A…

There are parts for cars like this, but it's usually old guys who sell them in HUGE batches of general AMC parts (from my experience). I don't think Maine is going to be close to any of those caches :/ Expect to pay shipping on lots of things.

Edit: Didn't see it was running! XP
Use the list above to track down the trans you want.
